Welcome to 7in7.org.uk
"If Sir Ranulph Fiennes can do it aged 70 odd then surely we can too?!?"
How did this seemingly random statement - unsurprisingly made in the pub - result in two friends committing to a colossal charity fundraising feat that will take them across the Atlantic and back again?
In 2003, the legendary adventurer, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, completed the extraordinary task of finishing seven marathons on seven different continents in seven days. This April, Mark Gardner and Jarlath O'Hara will be hoping to harness the same competitive spirit, running seven different marathons in a week for charity.
Commencing in the USA in St. Louis, Missouri, they then head to Boston to run the world's oldest marathon before crossing back across the pond for a series of UK events. The prestigious London Marathon will provide a fitting final leg on Sunday 26th April.
Despite both being over 40 years younger than Sir Ranulph, the lads will only be covering two continents - the excuse: "We have day jobs to attend in between these races!" -but this shouldn't take anything away from the daunting challenge of completing seven races, covering 182 miles, in such a short period of time.
